Shift bill setup and item selection from one organizer to the whole group.
Receipt scanning and import reduced manual setup
I made receipt scanning and import the primary way to build a bill, while keeping manual entry as a fallback.
Users enrolled in the eReceipt program can import receipt data directly from the transaction.
A shared link removed the need to add everyone manually
Instead of searching for contacts and adding phone numbers one by one, the organizer can share a single link in the group chat.
Participants join the split themselves, while phone-number invitations remain available as a fallback.
Participants could select their own items
The organizer can still assign items, but no longer has to do it for the whole group.
Each participant sees the receipt, claims their purchases, and confirms their share.
Repayment became part of the same flow
After selecting items, a participant sees the exact amount they owe and can pay it immediately.
The organizer can track who has joined, selected items, and repaid their share.
Usability validation
The redesigned flow was faster and required fewer actions
Eight participants completed the key scenarios in an interactive prototype.
